Entirely too many words …
With more than forty years of experience behind the camera, Mark brings both deep expertise and infectious enthusiasm to his teaching. A former member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC), he has worked professionally at various times. Still, he has always been driven first and foremost by a passion for the art of photography.
As one of the founding instructors at Bryan Peterson’s online school in 2008, Mark taught thousands of students worldwide until the school’s closure in 2025. He is frequently praised for his clarity, insight, and ability to make complex concepts accessible to photographers of all levels. His workshops, offered locally and abroad, include popular, sometimes annual sessions in Provence and Tuscany.
At the heart of his teaching, Mark strives to create a supportive, non-judgmental learning environment where students feel encouraged to share their work. He believes that positive reinforcement fosters growth far more effectively than focusing only on flaws, and that each student should be guided according to where they are in their creative journey—not held to the standards of a seasoned professional. This philosophy allows students to gain confidence, refine their vision, and grow as artists at their own pace.
Above all, Mark sees himself as a lifelong learner who enjoys sharing knowledge. His teaching style is grounded in strong communication skills and a belief that great photography comes not from equipment choices but from the vision and creativity of the person behind the camera.
