What Students are Saying
After the Click!
In a word, WOW! And then a few more words: WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I have been blown away by this course. I am learning so much. When I first began this course, I didn’t spend much time on my shots because I was so focused on the technical side, isolating it from any artistic vision I might have. But you have rightly insisted they should not be separated. This is precisely what I admire so much about your approach to photography – you have a much larger vision than I’m accustomed to – which is why I appreciate it all the more. I appreciate how you weave together the technical and the artistic – and at every level.
I want you to know how much I admire your course materials – the readings, your videos and commentaries on student photos. First off, I resonate strongly with the values that you express in all of them. And you are remarkably articulate. You express yourself so beautifully in verbal language – not just in the visual language of images! That is a rare and wonderful combination. And your reflections about photography are so deep and thoughtful.
Thoughtful in both senses of the word. Thoughtful as in reflective: ie: I keep returning to your amazing discussion at the very beginning of lesson #1 about the kinds of contrast that attract our attention. It’s a fascinating theory of visual experience – and summed up so succinctly! Thoughtful as in kind and generous: your comments on my photos and those of my classmates are nothing short of stupendously insightful and helpful.
In your comments, I detect a pedagogical wisdom that delicately balances moments when you ease up on me (ie: telling me not to attempt too much) and when you gently push me to attempt more and move to another level (ie), as in working with the sharpening tool; and in admonishing me to spend more time BEFORE the click.

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your constructive criticism during the “After the Click” course. This was my first class that I took with BPSOP and I wasn’t exactly certain how the format was going to be. I found your instruction to be invaluable. There was so much that I learned not just about post processing, but regarding composition as well. Your comments were always made right on point and in a nice manner. I always looked forward to hearing what you were going to say! I hope to continue my studies and rewatch the videos at a later date when they will be even more meaningful. Thanks so much again

I learned a lot more than just Lightroom techniques during the past four weeks. Your comments were both insight and thought provoking for me – I believe my perspective has changed based upon your inpu

I have really enjoyed this course and been challenged by it….you have done a great job of compiling and editing a vast amount of material and I really have a lot of admiration for your technical expertise.

After the Click ( “ATC”) is an outstanding course on the concept and technique of editing photos in Lightroom. Of the six on-line courses I have taken on post-processing of photos ATC is the best for these reasons:
1. Excellent and understandable written and video learning materials;
2. Hands-on on learning by editing provided RAW images; and,
3. Constructive feedback on your edited images from the instructor in video format.
If you have a working knowledge of the Develop section of Lightroom and want to improve your ability to edit your photos, take this course. ATC made a difference for me: after completing the course I took an image ( the “Before”), edited it (the “After”) and entered the final version in a photo contest. Took second place!

Just for the record I think you are one of the best instructors I have ever had. Your course notes are excellent and your response time in answering questions and critiquing images is second to none.
